I decided that this domain made far more sense for me than my previous ".co.uk", as I'm not a UK company (well, not yet anyway!) but I am a Scot! It is also much easier to explain to people, especially if I'd already gone to the trouble of spelling out my name!
The only real downside to having this domain is that certain little-known and digitally-unaware companies, such as BT for example, didn't seem to able to accept that .scot is a valid domain, as their domain checking software remained unchanged until recently from the late 1990s! The fact that the Scottish Government, amongst others, used .scot didn't seem to have any effect.
